Since becoming sick two and a half weeks ago, I have trained very little. The Turkey Trot 10k was the biggest effort. I started riding the bike to work again…and I hope to return to swimming this Friday.
The cough just won’t let up. *sigh* I hate coughs. My body gets physically tired. I get annoyed. [...]

Super Husband and I went to a local bike shop today and picked up new tubes for my racer. I picked up two: one for my front flat and a spare.
The tubes are the type with the “slime” inside – the bike shop mentioned they’re great and highly recommended them.
Ok – sounds good, [...]

Steve and I ran the Long Beach Turkey Trot Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) morning. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. The route was all along the strand – so it was beach and ocean views the entire way.
We left home and it was in the 40’s – but [...]

As many of us do this time of year, I want to mention a few of the things I am so thankful for this Thanksgiving Holiday season.
By far, the best year of my life. In all aspects: most memorable, fun, exciting…
My marriage to my best friend and Beshert.
Family – I think so much of my [...]

….You’ve got to make the moment last….
Ah, the line from “Feelin’ Groovy”.
I went walking after work to stretch the legs and let the lungs breathe a bit better. Interesting, I cough much less as I walk and run. Odd! I realized my brother was right – the half Ironman distance tri this summer freaks me [...]

Half Ironman.
Half Ironman THIS summer. In June. THIS June.
I am seriously considering doing the High Cliff Half Ironman distance with big bro. It will be a challenge. A HUGE challenge. And it seems several people think I can do it – except me.
However, if I keep training and put in a couple honest Olympic distances [...]

What a week. I haven’t been this sick in a long time. This cold knocked me on my backside! I ended up missing 2.5 days of work. Ouch.
I feel antsy – but still weak. I decided to go for a brisk walk after work today. It felt good to stretch my legs and take in [...]

I over-did it. After swimming last Friday I ended up getting a bad cold. Saturday afternoon I was down for the count. Head cold that quickly became a chest cold. I even missed work Monday.
Super Husband to the rescue…he took care of me. Made me soup, rubbed my back, put me to bed.
Now to continue [...]

Last night I had Masters Swim and it felt great to be back in the pool. I cranked out 51 laps in 1 hour, 20 minutes. That included kicking, pulling, breast stroke, and freestyle. The kicking is still very slow – but it’s a great workout combined with everything else.
We did drills [...]
