Yesterday was another Master Swim and I was able to complete 50 laps in 1:25. I took it a bit easier but held my own.
Note to large, hairy man who DOVE into my lane as I approached the wall…. learn Pool ETIQUETTE! I could go on about that incident – but I won’t… let’s just [...]

Blame it on the Rain

This past weekend has been very relaxing – and at the same time, successful for training.
Friday was Master Swim and I finally broke 60 laps. Admittedly, several laps were pulling – versus kicking (as previously stated, my kicking takes forever). However, it felt great to get out of the pool knowing I cranked out 60 [...]

Today Super Husband and I left our running shoes by the door and instead assisted our community.
After work we went to a local shelter and made dinner for hard working folks who are down on their luck. Along with 2 of my co-workers, we made sloppy joes, corn, grilled cheese, and served chips and chocolate [...]

This is the “Super Husband”. I’m guest blogging today on behalf of our regular blogger, who is unable to due to a hilarious and completely avoidable foot injury she incurred earlier in the day. And how exactly did she hurt her foot? Running a half marathon? No. Biking for 15 miles? No. Alas, she hurt her [...]
Facing Fears

Today was an excellent start to facing my fears.
I swam one mile (36 laps) without stopping. I will need to do this in my Olympic distance Tri in April (0.9 mile swim). My Half-Iron in June is just 7 laps further (1.2 mile swim). Now that I did this comfortably and steadily – I KNOW [...]

Today I finally did it…..I am now “clipless”. (Which, oddly enough means I DO have clips as pedals).
Super Husband and I had went to have my ride looked at – a little tune-up. While we were there we looked at shoes. It became quickly apparent that the person helping me did not know much about [...]

Today was was our peak run prior to Surf City Half Marathon.
Super Husband and I awoke and hit the pavement shortly after 8 a.m. today and pounded out 11 miles. We were a bit sluggish and sore – but it proved to be a good run. We began running in the morning shade with [...]

Ah yes – the old theme to McDonald’s. The interesting thing is, I boycott McDonalds….so it’s funny to have it referenced in a training blog. Morgan Spurlock – your movie “Super Size Me” as well as Eric Schlosser’s book “Fast Food Nation” made me boycott the golden arches. I will now get [...]
Hit and Run (or jog)

Super Husband and I went for a run this evening. We started with the mindset of completing a simple 4 miles and see how we feel as we go. If we felt good at 4, we’d continue and finish 5.5 miles.
Admittedly, the first mile was HARD – and TERRIBLE. My chest hurt, [...]

Super husband and I awoke to a beautiful sunny morning. Nice and cool, crisp for a run.
Our goal: 9 miles. What did we accomplish? 10. As we came to the end of 9 miles, my Better Half asked “How do you feel? Want to make it 10?”
He’s pretty awesome. [...]
