I am an Engine of Change.
I enjoy challenges – especially something physically and mentally challenging. It started with completing my first 5k run – which turned into a Half Marathon – which followed with a Full Marathon. My latest challenge is Triathlons!
When I started running, it was 11 minutes. Eleven minutes before I needed to stop. Slowly – and with training – that grew into a marathon time of 5 hours and 50 minutes. Amazing what the body and mind are capable of accomplishing. When I hear someone say “I could never do that!” I always bring up the fact I said the exact same thing.
With the training assistance from my “coach” (brother) as well as my support crew (husband), I am able to be a weekend warrior. In 2007, I was fortunate enough to be chosen by Toyota to be a sponsored athlete (who knew?!) and had a blast looking like a Pro.
A little more about me: I am a free spirit. I am liberal-minded. I love volunteering and helping the local community as well as the nation and world as a whole. I am a finance nerd. I love 80’s music. My celebrity crush is John Cusack. I don’t believe in organized religion. I think more people should bike to work or drive smaller cars. I think everyone has a voice. I believe nothing is impossible.
My on-going “To Do” list in life includes (but is not limited to):
- Hike Machu Picchu
- Complete a Half Ironman – Completed June 2008!
- Complete a FULL Ironman – COMPLETED Sept. 2009! I AM AN IRONMAN!
- Conquer my fear of swimming in the ocean
- Sky Diving
- Bike a century (100 miles) – Completed February 2009!
- Hike through New Zealand
- Find my groove on the west coast
- Realize “what I want to be” when I grow up!
- Create a big impact while leaving small footprints
